FAQs

General

What is the significance of “450” in the name?

Our pier is 450 feet long.

What does “POV” (the restaurant name) stand for?

Point of View. Because, well, that view!

Can we come to the restaurant and motel by boat?

Absolutely! You can find information on water depths along the pier here. If you’re coming by boat to stay at the motel, please let guest services know so we make sure not to turn the bird-deterring sprinklers on at night.

Can I kayak from your beach?

Guests of Pier450 may launch their own kayaks from our beach and tether them here during your stay. We also have several kayaks for guest use. The beach area north of our dock house is private property — not owned by Pier450. Please use only the Pier450 beach area.

Do you host weddings and other large events?

Yes, we can accommodate events of up to 75 people in our outdoor event space at Pier450. Coming later in 2022, we’ll be able to accommodate larger events at a property just across the street. And we can host smaller events inside the restaurant during certain time periods. Fill out this quick form with a few details and our Events Manager will get in touch soon to chat about your event.

Do you allow fishing from the pier?

Guests of the motel ONLY may fish from the pier and only when the restaurant is closed. Please leave no trace so that other guests may enjoy the pier.

Can non-guests use the pier for fishing?

No. The pier is private property and for use by guests of Pier450 only.

Are gift cards available?

Currently, we have gift cards for POV Restaurant and The Chandlery. You can purchase a physical card in the restaurant or online here.

Can I make a reservation by phone?

We encourage you to use the website to book your reservations. You may leave a message at 301.679.3900 to request a reservation and we will return your call as soon as possible. If you are inquiring about a large party or special event, fill out this quick form and our Events Manager will get in touch right away.

How do I make a reservation?

You can reserve a table here.

Why is it sometimes difficult to get through by phone?

There are a few answers to this question:

  1. Like many restaurants, we aren’t typically able to answer the phone during restaurant hours because we are busy taking care of guests and because the volume in the restaurant frankly makes it very difficult to hear. And we certainly don’t want to appear rude if we can’t hear you!
  2. Cell service down here can be spotty. It’s even worse inside the restaurant. So it’s often a challenge to keep calls connected.
  3. We have a centralized phone number for Pier450, POV Restaurant, The Quarters Motel and our sister property, Scotland Yards. The volume of calls we receive keeps us on our toes — but also means you may not hear back from us for a day or so. We do our best to respond to everyone within 24 hours! If you do call, please leave us a message.
Do you offer carry out? If so, how do I place an order?

We will take carry out orders from the bar at POV. We don’t take phone orders simply because our kitchen isn’t big enough to accommodate the volume that would invite. (We are a renovated property and by regulation, aren’t able to expand the size of our kitchen.)

Do you require reservations?

We don’t — and will do our best to accommodate all walk-ins. But we do highly recommend them on the weekend, especially. And we always appreciate reservations simply because it helps us determine staffing.

Can you accommodate allergies?

Yes, our chefs are always willing to create alternatives for guests with allergies. You can make note of your allergy when you make a reservation or let your server know upon your arrival.

Can you accommodate large parties?

To a certain size and at certain times, yes. You can book up to 12 people via our website. For parties larger than 12, fill out this quick form and our Events Manager will be in touch right away.

Can you host wedding rehearsal dinners?

We can. Fill out this quick form and our Events Manager will be in touch right away.

Do you allow pets?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your dog to sit with you on the beach. Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Do you offer a military discount?

We offer a 10% discount to active duty military members. Simply show your military ID to your server.

The Quarters Motel

How do I book a room?

You can reserve a room at The Quarters here.

Can I request an earlier check-in or later check-out than your stated hours? (Check-in is currently 3:00 pm, check-out is 11:00 am)?

If bookings and cleaning schedules align, the most we would be able to add on either side of your booking would be two hours. To make your request, you can note it when you make your reservation or contact us any time at [email protected]. Our Guest Services Manager will be in touch.

Do you allow pets?

We do, with conditions:

  1. When at all possible, please take them with you when you’re out and about so they don’t disturb other guests pining for your return.
  2. We charge a $25 cleaning fee, payable when you make your reservation.
  3. Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside on the property.
  4. Please pick up after your pet.
Do you offer packages for parties booking multiple rooms?

We love parties! We’re happy to accommodate special requests and add features to make your group’s stay as comfortable and special as possible. Because we’re a (very) small motel, we aren’t able to offer room discounts for brief stays. Contact us here and our Guests Services Manager will get in touch to chat about ways to customize your stay.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can read through our motel policies here.

Can I check in early or check out late?

Check-in is 3:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. We can sometimes accommodate early check-ins/late check-outs, depending on guests departing and arriving and the schedule of our cleaning crew. Ask our guest services manager prior to your arrival or departure (you’ll have a text and email option after you book your reservation) and she’ll do her best. The most flexibility we’ll likely have is an hour on either side of your booking.

Do you offer contractor or extended stay rates?

Yes. Please get in touch to work out details for your stay.

Arrival & Departure

Check in is at 3:00 p.m. and check out at 11:00 a.m. We guarantee your room will be ready by 3:00 on the day of your arrival. If you arrive early, you’re free to enjoy the property, including the restaurant (you'll find the restaurant/bar hours here), pier, beach and firepits. We will try to accommodate early check ins/late check outs within an hour of our stated times where possible — ask your guest services manager prior to your arrival/departure.

Reservations & Payments

We are a contactless motel — that is, there isn’t an onsite innkeeper to greet you or take payment information. To alleviate the need to repeatedly contact you for credit card information prior to your stay, 100% of your payment will be charged at the time you make your reservation. A confirmation letter will be sent when we receive payment. For other payment arrangements, please email or call us.

Advance reservations are required. There is no one onsite to accommodate walk-ins.

Cancellations

We are a very small motel and cancellations affect us significantly. As such, we need to adhere to a strict cancellation policy. Payments for single rooms are refundable if cancelled more than 10 days prior to your stay, minus a $25 processing fee. If your reservation is cancelled within 10 days of your arrival date, 50% of your fee will be forfeited.

Payments for groups booking more than three rooms are refundable if cancelled more than 30 days prior to your arrival date, minus a $50 processing fee. If your multi-room reservation is cancelled within 30 days of your arrival date, 50% of your fee will be forfeited.

Innkeeping Services

We don’t have a lobby with a front desk or an onsite concierge. That said, we do have lots of people whose jobs are to make sure you have fun and that your stay is as comfortable as possible. Your confirmation letter and subsequent communications will provide you with details for how to contact our guest services manager if you have questions or need assistance. We can also direct you to information about local attractions and resources.

In-Room Food Preparation

A mini refrigerator with freezer and Keurig coffee maker are provided in each room. Other cooking appliances are not permitted. Several Keurig pods are provided each day of your stay.

Personal Belongings

To ensure everyone’s enjoyment of our small property and lovely views, we ask that you not leave personal belongings in front of the motel while you are in your room or away from the property, including, but not limited to, chairs, clothing, towels, beverage containers, etc. Trash cans are provided in your room and are placed throughout the property for your use.

Pets

We allow pets at The Quarters — with a few conditions:

  1. When at all possible, please take them with you when you’re out and about so they don’t disturb other guests pining for your return.
  2. We charge a $25 cleaning fee, payable when you make your reservation.
  3. Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside on the property.
  4. You must pick up after your pet.
