POV stands for Point of View because, well, that view. Our world class menu derives from locally sourced ingredients (as much as we can) and a commitment to fresh. And by fresh we mean…really fresh. Burger meat, fish, crabs and oysters come from farms just around the corner. Herbs and vegetables (in season) are grown right on the property. And everything — breads, desserts, sauces and every single menu item — is made from scratch, in-house. Chef Carlos is a master of approachable fine cuisine, combining local proteins and favorites with international influences and flavors.
The artful interiors at POV were the vision of owner Peggy and designer Paul Haynes. Together they selected the tile, the colors and the materials (the concrete floor is a polished version of the original subfloor). Paul’s search for artwork and decor brought together estate sale and antique store finds and unique pieces that caught his eye.
We took the initial layout and opened it up — expanding the windows to enhance the water and sunset view from anywhere in the restaurant, brightening the walls (the paneling, now painted white, is an updated version of the building’s original)and lighting the ceiling to make it feel higher. We’ve created a menu to cater to every palette and every budget, varied and equally tasty.
We’ve dubbed the bar at POV, Le Bar. And of course, there’s a story behind the name (it wasn’t just our attempt at sounding all fancy)… Our beer list includes the mainstays along with an interesting collection of Maryland and Virginia craft brews. Our wine list is culled from a selection of smaller vineyards around the world, so that we can feature fabulous wines at affordable prices. And our specialty cocktails were created just for us, often featuring items right from our garden or local produce sources.
POV includes the indoor dining space and bar, the outdoor deck with dining tables and the beach, with its Adirondack chairs, chaises and fire pits.
Eight uniquely curated rooms, each with a different theme and beautifully decorated interiors. With organic cotton linens, mini refrigerators with freezers, Keurig coffee makers and other fine touches, the rooms at The Quarters are more luxury boutique hotel than what you’d expect from the roadside version.
The Quarters was original a (completely!) no frills encampment for fisherman. Cinderblock walls, three twin beds to a room, no HVAC beyond a window unit…yeah, that kind of “no frills.’ Today, the rooms feature luxury amenities and an expansive front porch perfect for enjoying the view of nearby farm fields and water.
The name derives from a ship’s chandlery, historically a source of marine supplies for sailing ships. Our Chandlery is a sundry store for boaters with a little something extra — a retail boutique of unique finds and beautiful items, from art and home décor to jewelry and clothes, plus edibles, health & beauty aides and toys.

We use this nomenclature, “The Yards,” to describe the whole of the outdoor spaces at Pier450. We have big plans for the Front Yard — the area in front of the motel — stay tuned for details. The Backyard is the vegetable and herb garden behind the motel (that one’s Peggy’s baby). The Big Garden as we’re calling it (and Cathy’s creation), will come to life soon as a park-like transition between the parking lot and the beach and eventual wedding area.
The Yards also encompasses all of the gardens throughout the property, which are in various stages of development. There are new gardens in front of The Quarters, along the sides of the restaurant, behind the restaurant on the pathway from motel to pier, and elsewhere. Virtually all of our plantings are “native,” meaning the plants, themselves, are indigenous to the Southern Maryland and Chesapeake Bay areas. This means they’re lower maintenance, full of pollinators and a vital part of the local ecosystem of plants, bugs,

Arrival & Departure
Check in is at 3:00 p.m. and check out at 11:00 a.m. We guarantee your room will be ready by 3:00 on the day of your arrival. If you arrive early, you’re free to enjoy the property, including the restaurant (you'll find the restaurant/bar hours here), pier, beach and firepits. We will try to accommodate early check ins/late check outs within an hour of our stated times where possible — ask your guest services manager prior to your arrival/departure.
Reservations & Payments
We are a contactless motel — that is, there isn’t an onsite innkeeper to greet you or take payment information. To alleviate the need to repeatedly contact you for credit card information prior to your stay, 100% of your payment will be charged at the time you make your reservation. A confirmation letter will be sent when we receive payment. For other payment arrangements, please email or call us.
Advance reservations are required. There is no one onsite to accommodate walk-ins.
We are a very small motel and cancellations affect us significantly. As such, we need to adhere to a strict cancellation policy. Payments for single rooms are refundable if cancelled more than 10 days prior to your stay, minus a $25 processing fee. If your reservation is cancelled within 10 days of your arrival date, 50% of your fee will be forfeited.
Payments for groups booking more than three rooms are refundable if cancelled more than 30 days prior to your arrival date, minus a $50 processing fee. If your multi-room reservation is cancelled within 30 days of your arrival date, 50% of your fee will be forfeited.
We don’t have a lobby with a front desk or an onsite concierge. That said, we do have lots of people whose jobs are to make sure you have fun and that your stay is as comfortable as possible. Your confirmation letter and subsequent communications will provide you with details for how to contact our guest services manager if you have questions or need assistance. We can also direct you to information about local attractions and resources.
In-Room Food Preparation
A mini refrigerator with freezer and Keurig coffee maker are provided in each room. Other cooking appliances are not permitted. Several Keurig pods are provided each day of your stay.
To ensure everyone’s enjoyment of our small property and lovely views, we ask that you not leave personal belongings in front of the motel while you are in your room or away from the property, including, but not limited to, chairs, clothing, towels, beverage containers, etc. Trash cans are provided in your room and are placed throughout the property for your use.
