St Mary’s County Homegrown Flowers

Pier 450 cutting gardens or forged from our surrounding property. Here is week one with attached photos of the progression of the bouquet.

I found the best way is to start with the structure of the arrangement and then move inward, adding your focal flowers at the end.

1. Structural greenery. Three stems of nine bark. For a bigger vase use more.

2. Supporting greenery. Baptisia.

3. Whimsical greenery. Honeysuckle. If you don’t have that use any other whimsical type of greenery you can find on your property, like ivy or Virginia creeper.

4. Foundational flower. White gladiolus

  • Supporting flower number 1. Liastris (gay feather)
  • Supporting flower number 2. Garden phlox

5. Then finally your whimsical flower. Topping it off is the most fun. In this case, Russian sage.
